Dear reader,
This is a welcoming article for all the people who are landing in this section of my blog for the first time.
I’m Jessica, a 33-year-old Italian western rider living in Dubai since 2021.
I’m the owner of Yazan, a 15-year-old Arabian stallion who became my best friend in April 2022 (even though he doesn’t always agree to be my friend :D).
I decided just yesterday to reserve a whole section on the Horseek blog to talk about Yazan and me. Why? Because I realized that in just one year, we have been through a lot together, and it’s all worth sharing.
Most horse owners will agree with me that becoming a horse mom is anything but simple.
Being a horse owner has allowed me to become an expert in numerous equestrian topics, some of which I never imagined I would need to know. This is probably how I got into equestrian blogging in the first place.
Since getting Yazan, my daily routine has become much busier, and my circle of friends is mostly made up of other horse owners. My most active WhatsApp chats are about vet, chiropractor, dentist, and farrier appointments.
My first thought in the morning is about my horse (but please don’t tell my husband!).
I’ve asked many people numerous questions about how to take care of my horse. Although I always surround myself with a team of professionals for any issues I face regarding Yazan’s health or mental wellbeing, you may agree with me that if you want to know the tips and tricks, you have to ask other horse moms and dads. I have asked so much of the equestrian community in the UAE that I feel it is now my turn to give something back.
What will you read about in “Dancing with Yazan”?
In this very personal section of my blog, I want to tell you about our story, as well as the ups and downs that every equestrian goes through. And if you meet someone who claims there are no downs, please don’t believe them!
Sometimes, I just need to share my new personal knowledge about a specific topic, learning by doing as they say. Other times, I just need to let things go, and writing is probably one of the best ways to do so.
In Dancing with Yazan, you will get to know both me (Jessica) and my horse as if we’ve always known each other. You will learn about the struggles and beauty of being a horse owner in the UAE. You will discover facts about Arabian stallions that you didn’t know. I will tell you all about our adventures in the desert of Al Ruwayyah (Dubai) but also about our misadventures. You will follow me as I uncover all the details about the Yazan story before me and his pedigree. I will answer any of your questions regarding our personal story or any equestrian topic.
In the first few months, I will try to catch up with the stories that have already happened in this long and intense year. I may shuffle the order in which I write about these events, but I promise to keep very detailed information about the timeline at the beginning of every article.
Sometimes it will be hard to keep up with this section, but I promise to write here about all the major events in my journey with Yazan.
If you are interested in knowing even more about us, you can follow my YouTube channel or my Instagram page under the same name: “Dancing with Yazan.”
Feel free to reach out to me at jsscmassinelli@gmail.com if you have any private inquiries.
I wish you all a pleasant reading!
Jessica
