Show jumping competitions: Useful documentation

This document provides comprehensive information about the various levels of show jumping competitions, covering everything from young horse and novice to children competitions and the prestigious 1A division. It encompasses essential details, including the Emirates Longines League Points System chart and information about the prize money awarded to the season’s winners. Prize amounts range from AED 50,000 to 70,000, adding an extra layer of excitement and motivation for participants.

In the UAE Longines League, team competitions are set to unfold across four distinct venues during the National shows. Each team, comprising a minimum of three and a maximum of six riders, must include at least one local rider. The class rules dictate a one-day, one-round format with four riders and one drop score. Teams will be assigned specific colors for each event, encompassing shirts and numnahs. Before the 2nd qualification, each team is required to declare its final members. The top eight teams from the qualifying rounds will advance to the Final, with any qualified team opting out being replaced by the next best team that did not initially qualify. To be eligible for the Final, a team must participate in a minimum of two shows. This team competition structure adds an exciting dynamic to the UAE Longines League, fostering collaboration and competition among riders.

Dressage shows: useful documentation

The document contains information regarding directives and guidelines for dressage movements, offering insights into what to observe to prevent fundamental mistakes in dressage shows. The content of this document is derived from the FEI dressage rules for 2023.

This document lists the rules effective from January 1, 2023, incorporating the code of conduct for riders and horse welfare, general principles of dressage, and more. One entire chapter is dedicated to dressage competitions, providing details about test execution, dress code, and saddlery.

General guidelines regarding the use of tack, equipment, and dress code in dressage competitions have been released by the FEI. The document provides an overview of permissible bridles, nosebands, bits, saddles, stirrups, and spurs, outlining how they should be utilized on the horse to comply with FEI rules and protocols.

Dressage: The grace and triumphs of equestrian excellence

Dressage, a captivating form of horse training, dates back to ancient Greece, showcasing the horse’s grace in walking, trotting, and cantering. The rider guides the horse through memorized patterns, with the exception of the specially choreographed Freestyle, performed to music.

One notable figure in Dressage history is Reiner Kilmke from Germany, who clinched six gold and two bronze medals, setting an enduring record. Another inspiring story comes from Denmark’s Lis Hartel, paralyzed by polio in 1944. Despite her paralysis, she won a silver medal in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, an emotional moment etched in Olympic history when the gold medallist assisted her onto the podium.

Dressage’s popularity has surged, drawing large crowds, particularly during top-class Freestyle performances under floodlights. Its aesthetic appeal positions it as the most visually pleasing discipline in the FEI stable. Notably, Para-Equestrian Dressage stands as the sole equestrian discipline included in the Paralympic Games since 1996, underscoring the sport’s inclusive nature and ensuring its continued growth.
